Welcome to The Rooster Moans! Please refer to the guidelines below to get started.
1. REGISTRATION & LOGIN
In order to see and post to our forums, you will first need to register.
a) Click Register, and read/accept the "Registration Agreement Terms".
b) Enter the following required fields:
1) a username and password of your choice
2) the email address used for your invitation
3) the answer to a simple question ("blue")
4) the visual confirmation code.
(Sorry, but steps 3 & 4 are necessary to keep the spambots out.)
Everything else on this page is entirely optional and may be filled in later, if you wish, on your profile page.
c) Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. Provided that you have been invited to join, you will receive an email approving your registration.
d) Once you have received your approval email, login using the username and password you chose during the registration process.
Voila! You will then see all the sections of the site that are hidden to the public.
2. PRIVACY
The Rooster Moans is a safe space in which to explore craft. All areas of the site are hidden and closed to the public with the exception of general information. Search engines will only "see" the same general content as unregistered visitors. Your profile page is also hidden from unregistered guests.
The only personal information that is required for registration is a valid email address, which will not be sold, rented or given away to any third party. You are not required to use your real name to register, but it is encouraged.
3. ONLINE CONDUCT
You're free to simply lurk or actively participate, but the more active your participation, the more vital this community will be.
When posting, be respectful to differences in aesthetics and sensitive to tone. Choose your words carefully so that they won't be misconstrued and make use of the corny emoticons. This is a supportive community, and rudeness will not be tolerated. That said, we welcome a variety of opinions and we value honesty and passion, when respectfully stated.
4. WORKSHOPS
Workshops run on a semi-regular basis, generally for 4 weeks at a time with 4-8 week breaks in-between. You can join a workshop by registering, then clicking Usergroups and following the prompts.
Workshops are generally limited in membership, and require that you leave feedback for others. Specifics will be clearly posted in individual workshop descriptions.
5. GIVE & TAKE
The GIVE & TAKE forum does not require that you leave feedback, however, you're more likely to receive feedback on your own work if you offer it to others.
6. POETICS
This area includes discussion on technique and form, and reviews of who/what we're reading.
7. SONG OF YOURSELF
Tell us where you've been published! This is also the place to post calls for submissions, contests, sites we like, information about upcoming readings and other literary events.
8. TECHNICALLY SPEAKING
We believe that you will find The Rooster Moans an easy and intuitive place to navigate, but you may find yourself stumped from time to time. Speak up and your questions will be promptly answered.
Once again, welcome to The Rooster Moans! We are honored to have you here.
Note: If you would like to apply for membership, please send an email with one or two of your poems and a short bio to: info@roostermoans.org, and when there is an opening, we will be happy to consider it. |
